When ACTRA members work, they are protected by agreements setting the minimum wage and working conditions. Unlike traditional collective agreements, agreements negotiated between ACTRA and producer associations or broadcasters establish minimum conditions and royalties, but ACTRA members are encouraged to negotiate beyond these minimum requirements. These agreements are managed and implemented by staff members working in ACTRA branches throughout the country. ACTRA negotiates, on behalf of its members, contracts with producers and commitments. Our contracts set minimum wage and working conditions that allow actors to work in a diverse industry, including independent film productions, commercials, radio and television dramas, telephony, video games and web-based content. Members can benefit from the expert advice of Winnie Alford, a talented ACA advisor who has taken an interest in the entire agreement. The agreement addresses most of the challenges faced by Canadian distributors and builds on the progress made in previous negotiations. Among the updates, the Canadian Advertisers Association is negotiating with the Institute of Communication Agencies the national trade agreement with the Alliance of Canadian Cinema, Televisions and Radio Artists (ACTRA), which covers the talents and working conditions of performers in English-language Canadian radio commercials. The current three-year contract expires on 30 June 2020 and covers areas such as remuneration for use and reuse, talent cycles, work permits, casting and auditions and definitions, as well as other working conditions. Note: In September 2020, an agreement was reached to extend the durations of the current CAS and addendum L-R by one year, between 1 July 2020 and 30 June 2021.

In particular, a contractual service fee now has to be paid and the applicable minimum meeting fees now reflect their television and radio counterparts. .
